To set up your Trezor hardware wallet, follow these steps from the Trezor start page:
1. Unbox Your Trezor
Contents: Ensure you have the Trezor device, a USB cable, recovery seed cards, and any other included accessories.
2. Connect Your Trezor
Connect to Computer: Use the USB cable to connect your Trezor device to your computer.
3. Go to Trezor Start Page
Open Browser: Launch your web browser and go to trezor.io/start.
4. Install Trezor Bridge
Download: If prompted, download Trezor Bridge from the website.
Install: Follow the installation instructions specific to your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
5. Install Firmware
Check Firmware: If your device is new, it might not have firmware installed.
Install: Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest firmware. You may need to disconnect and reconnect your device during this process.
6. Create a New Wallet or Recover an Existing One
Create New Wallet: If setting up a new wallet, choose the "Create new wallet" option.
Backup Recovery Seed: Write down the 24-word recovery seed phrase displayed on your device. Store this seed securely offline.
Confirm Seed Phrase: Confirm the seed phrase by selecting the words in the correct order when prompted.
Recover Existing Wallet: If recovering an existing wallet, choose the "Recover wallet" option and enter your recovery seed phrase.
7. Set Up a PIN
Choose a PIN: Set up a PIN to protect your device. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter and confirm your PIN.
8. Install Trezor Suite
Download Trezor Suite: From the Trezor start page, download the Trezor Suite application for your operating system.
Install and Open: Install Trezor Suite, then open the application and follow the setup instructions.
9. Start Using Your Trezor
Access Dashboard: Use Trezor Suite or the Trezor web interface to access your dashboard.
Manage Cryptocurrencies: Add and manage various cryptocurrencies, send and receive funds, and interact with supported third-party services.
The setup process includes connecting your Trezor, installing necessary software, creating or recovering a wallet, securing your device with a PIN, and using Trezor Suite for ongoing management. Always ensure you are on the official Trezor website to avoid phishing attempts and keep your recovery seed phrase secure.
